The chronicles of an online poker player

Instant Tragedy

September 21, 2009 at 12:48 am

The total destruction of the poker universe…

Now with the destruction of the Hoy, the Mookie, and the annihilation of the BBT series, the poker blogosphere that I know has imploded.

People that would once come together, to play poker, to read and study poker.

But some moved…

…to new jobs

…to welcoming new family members

…to saying goodbye to family members

…to new wives

and to new husbands.

We’ve in a way imploded, to new ventures and to new ideas… But as a friend of mine said to me on the Girly Chat…

“yup… the trick is that these things need to rebuild, not exclude… you know, try and avoid complete cliques”

And like every civilization there were reasons for the destruction of the universe…

“wouldn’t hurt for the economy to pick up and the UIGEA to come down…”

True, significant factors none the less, but I think the true reasoning is that it was just time.

It was time to take a break from 7 night action, broadcasting suckouts and the same “this person is ghey” jokes. It was time to take a breath and just do something else for a change.

But is it time to hang it up?

I say that the Blogger Gathering should be bigger, better and with less torture and more Procedure.

But I alas, will be unable to make it, for I have a wedding on the 19th of December to be standing up at.

I’ve been a lucky man before, and yet again with Joanna, I will be lucky again.

I may have not won major tournaments, or wear bracelets of champions.

But December 19th my universe changes for the better.

How about we all meet up in 2010 and start over again? One tournament at a time, until we get back into the swing of , not a full schedule, but just a schedule of all being friends and friendly again, letting life take a hike for a bit just living and loving the moment of suckouts, roars & boooms.

Can we give it one more shot?

Or will a canceled Mookie be my last favorite moment?

Where have all the cowboys gone?

Awww … everyone just needed a break. Too many BBT games burned everyone out. Blogger fun will resume at some point.

So sorry that you won’t be in Las Vegas in December. I was really looking forward to meeting you. I guess you have better things to do … : o )

I’m still here. I even wrote a post similar to this, only with a bit of a different view. I too am sorry you aren’t making it to Vegas.
